While design is a universal language, spoken by creatives all over the world, there is no doubt that it suffers in isolation. No matter how many guests you welcome to your shores, you cannot become fluent in travel and global hospitality while sitting at home.
At Cacique International, we like a challenging audience. So when we were asked to come back to curate the Northstar Meetings Group Leadership Forum, an annual networking event that brings together the world’s leading travel & hospitality specialists, we relished the challenge. A wise man once said that “coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success.” Working with Northstar on this pinnacle event for the second year running is the mark of a truly successful partnership, one that testifies to our restless quest for the best as event designers and our enduring mantra to Just Imagine the possibilities.
THE WHAT
The Northstar Leadership Forum is an exclusive senior-level summit for the movers & shakers of the billion-dollar meetings, sports, and hospitality industries. Held at the jaw-dropping Sea Island Resort in Georgia (the only hotel to have ever received the Forbes Five Stars distinction in four different categories for 12 consecutive years), this is Northstar Meeting Group’s flagship three-day networking event, synonymous with exceptional design and experiences. Building on the resounding success of the 2018 Leadership Forum, this was the opportunity for Events Design @ Sea, powered by Cacique International, to prove our expertise and relentless thirst for innovation.
THE WHO
The Northstar Travel Group believes that ‘travel is transformational’, and like Mark Twain (in our opening quote), we couldn’t agree more. Northstar’s portfolio of conferences and education events is the industry’s gold standard, and the Leadership Forum is the crown jewel. Invitees this year included leadership from Maritz, Fedex, The Bellagio, United Airlines, Velas Resorts, AIC Hotel Group, Silversea Cruises and more. Speakers included Roger Dow, President & C.E.O. of the U.S. Travel Association, and Duncan Wardle, who served as Disney’s VP of Innovation and Creativity, and now consults with Fortune 100 companies on innovation and ‘design-thinking’.
THE HOW
We speak a lot about ‘The Cacique Magic’ - the myriad of extra touches that take an event beyond the expected and into the realm of the extraordinary. Northstar envisioned an inspiring summit that would bring invitees closer together, so we ensured our use of décor combined comfort with luxury, and that all activities, from bowling to skeet shooting, generated memorable shared experiences. Our intense focus on the guest perspective forged lasting connections between attendees, and at the end of the day, that’s the goal - these friendships and professional connections will endure beyond scores on the green and cocktails at sunset.
