a. in the shower, b. on the beach, c. in the car, d. in bed, or e. something else.
Either way, I can pretty much guarantee that you will not answer “at my desk” or “round the boardroom table.”
At Cacique, we are always on the lookout for unconventional ideation spaces, as we know that original places trigger original thought. So when a prestigious hospitality client requested a bespoke brainstorm, we set about curating the ultimate inspirational experience.
The what
Imagination is our currency at Cacique, and “inspirational potential” is the lens we look through when assessing a space for a brainstorm. In this case, traditional restaurants, libraries, lounges and boardrooms were cast aside in the quest for a unique, soulful space that would spur original conversation and just perhaps.…that billion dollar idea lurking in the collective subconsciousness. In line with our client’s sense of aesthetic, we narrowed it down to two inspirational settings and fused them. The resulting formula: Art + Dinner = Food For Thought.
the how
“A mind in the present moment is meditation.”
What better mental appetiser than a cocktail-infused visit to the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB)? The historic colonial home of Villa Doyle tells her own story (which you can read here) while the Bahamian art on the walls tells another, altogether creating a perfectly-stimulating blend.
With clear minds and wetted-palettes, guests were whisked away from the amuse-bouche of the NAGB to the main course at The D’Aguilar Art Foundation - where the dining table lay waiting, like its own conceptual piece, surrounded by avant-garde Bahamian art.
The wow
Set in a quaint colonial-style cottage on downtown Nassau's Virginia Street, the intimate gallery setting of The D’Aguilar Art Foundation would become the perfect catalyst for the ultimate dinner brainstorm. Nothing heightens the senses like a well-crafted menu, paired with a “living and breathing” art space.
As relates to design, it was important for our tablescape to provide a visual springboard, with the aim of drawing the eye up from the table to the surrounding space around, where the contemporary exhibit would invite fresh ideas at every turn of the head.
